My Approach

Luka Železnik outside an office building

Professional Mission Statement

Be the colleague that can be relied upon and who always supports coworkers.

Seek to find win-win solutions while being willing to challenge the status quo.

I perform my job efficiently with the highest degree of technical excellence.

Create a team environment where we push each other and keep a good sense of humor.

Attempt to implement the changes you want to see and add value at every step.

Autonomy, Mastery, Purpose

Mission oriented leadership, having a clear goal and the framework in which to work is enough for me to take ownership and find creative efficient solutions autonomously. I am highly proactive so would seek feedback along the way, but also take accountability for the decisons I make based on my experience and knowledge.

I am highly motivated to become better in every aspect of what that might mean. Perfecting existing skills, learning new ones, becoming a better listener, better leader etc... I thrive in challenging environments and appreciate mentorship from any direction.

Whatever I am building, or helping build, I wish to take pride in and see it as serving value to whomever the customer is. At the same time, one finds the best purpose&fulfillment when we are good at what we do and take responsibility for something.

Best work environment

Luka prefers an environment with variety and change. He is at his best when many projects are underway at once. His sensitivity to errors and mistakes sometimes tempers his aggressiveness. He may be accused of being “work compulsive” because of these tendencies. He may lose interest in a project once the challenge ceases. He may then be ready for another challenging project. He is deadline conscious and becomes irritated if deadlines are delayed or missed. His drive for tangible accomplishments is counterbalanced by an equal drive for correctness. He may not trust others enough to delegate projects, especially if they have displayed an inability to perform to his standards. At times, he may be reluctant to delegate certain tasks. He can be blunt and critical of people who do not meet his standards. He is forward-looking, aggressive and competitive. His vision for results is one of his positive strengths. Many people see him as a self-starter dedicated to achieving results. He is a creative person and uses this creativity to solve problems.

Approach towards projects

Luka sometimes gets so involved in a project that he tends to take charge. He has the unique ability of tackling tough problems and following them through to a satisfactory conclusion. He finds it easy to share his opinions on solving work-related problems. He is logical, incisive and critical in his problem-solving activities. Luka likes the freedom to explore and the authority to re-examine and retest his findings. He will work long hours until a tough problem is solved. After it is solved, Luka may become bored with any routine work that follows. He has the ability to make high-risk decisions, but sometimes should seek counsel before acting. He is a good problem solver and troubleshooter, always seeking new ways to solve old problems.

Communications Style

Luka usually communicates in a cool and direct manner. Some may see him as being aloof and blunt. Others often misunderstand his great ability as a creative thinker. His creative and active mind may hinder his ability to communicate to others effectively. He may present the information in a form that cannot be easily understood by some people. When appropriate, he could be more effective by showing warmth, cooperation and more tact at the appropriate time. He has a tendency to tell and not sell. Luka may lose interest in what others are saying if they ramble or do not speak to the point. His active mind is already moving ahead. He may lack the patience to listen and communicate with slower acting people. He tends to be intolerant of people who seem ambiguous or think too slowly. He could improve his communication with others by being more flexible and showing a sincere interest in what they are saying.
